Syzygium - Big Red
Description: Large, glossy leaves with new growth being one of the darkest crimson foliages available. White flowers borne over summer are followed by edible berries. Hardy, dry tolerant, and bird attracting. Grows well in most soil toypes which are well draining. Protect from frosts when young. Prune to shape during early Spring to encourage dense habit. Use a slow release fertiliser according to manufactures directions. Water requirements are low once established, requiring only an occaisional long soak during extended periods of heat. To creat a tight hedge, space at 1 metre intervals.
