Wrapped Bag Bare-rooted Tree
*Seasonal Product - Available June, July and August.
Description of plant at maturity:
Apricots are self fertile and do well in a range of climates. Plant in full sun position. They need moist free draining soil that doesn''t get waterlogged, but dislike soil acidity. Avoid over crowding to reduce the incidence of disease.
''Wrapped'' trees are bare-root, meaning they have been removed from the soil during winter-dormancy. There are several benefits to opting for bare-root trees, including:
- They establish larger root systems quicker than potted specimens
- They have improved resistance to heat/drought stress
- They take full advantage of spring (and improved vigor long-term)
- They are typically more affordable than potted specimens of the same age
To plant, dig a hole that is twice as wide as it is deep. Make a small mound of soil in the centre of the hole and gently position the roots of the tree evenly as you plant the tree on the mound. Backfill the hole, taking care not to bury the tree too high above the roots (do not cover the graft-union). Water in well. Prune the tree by 30-50% (important to help the tree establish). Water regularly until established.
