Description of plant at maturity:
Often gets a red base in colder climates, and changes from completely green to green with a red tinge at certain times. It has large purple berries around spring and summer. Tolerates frost, moderate drought and has good erosion control capabilities. Popular for mass plantings and in low-water use gardens.

Grows well in sandy, sandy-loam and clay soils. Water well for the first 8-13 weeks until established. Cut back half way every 3-7 years to encourage new growth.

Blooming season: Purple/yellow flowers in October to November.
