How to use:
STEP 1: CHOOSE THE RIGHT PLANTS:

The first step towards creating a lush, beautiful hanging basket is choosing the right plants. Long trailing plants such as trailing petunias require only top planting. For short-trailing plants such as the ‘Tapien’ purple verbena, plant on the sides of the basket as well as the top to create a stunning, full-looking floral display.

STEP 2: ADD POTTING SOIL

The selection of a high quality potting soil is the most essential step in creating a healthy hanging basket. Choose a lightweight, bagged soil mix designed especially for hanging baskets. The soil should contain a mixture of organic ingredients that will feed your plants.

STEP 3: CHOOSE A FOCAL PLANT:

The first plant you install in the hanging basket will be a focal point in the design, so choose a specimen with a long blooming time and vigorous performance.

STEP 4: ARRANGE TRAILING FLOWERS:

Surround your focal plant with flowers or plants that have spreading and trailing habits. These plants will fill in blank spots quickly, giving your basket a full look with fewer plants. If your basket will be hanging above your reach, choose varieties that don’t require deadheading to ease maintenance tasks.

STEP 5: WATER THOROUGHLY:

Water the newly planted basket until you see runoff. Expect to water your hanging baskets daily, perhaps even twice a day when hot, dry conditions persist. If you water in the morning, wet the foliage as well, to discourage spider mites. Fertilise your baskets twice a month to keep them looking healthy throughout the season.
