Hellebore - Double White Spotted 140mm Pot
Helleborus x hybridus selections - Winter Elegance ''Double White Spotted''
Description of plant at maturity:
The fine red spotting on a white background much admired in Hellebores on a fully double flower. These are also good vigorous plants and make quite an impact in the winter garden. A charming double flowered form.
Hellebore, also known as Winter Rose, are evergreen perennials with attractive foliage and heads of single or double cupped flowers in a range of stunning colours. They are ideal for adding drifts of colour under deciduous trees and shrubs. Flowers are also good for cutting.
The Winter Elegance varities are the most adaptable and easiest to grow of all Hellebores. Tough, drought tolerant once established and very long lived. Helleborus x hybridus is the botanically correct name for what used to be called ‘Helleborus orientalis’. These varieties are just as tough as the old fashioned ones that would have been found in your Grandmother’s garden, but with better flowers. If you have never grown a Hellebore, start with a few of these.
The Helleborus x hybridus selections listed in this section can vary a little in stature but typically reach about 45cm tall when in flower. When mature they will have a spread of around 60cm. Their foliage is evergreen and the main flowering period is from July to September, depending on climate and season. We suggest planting them 45 to 50cm apart.
They will thrive in a cool, partly shaded to shaded area in humus-rich, well drained soil. Will tolerate frost and short dry spells. Water after planting until established.
