Acmena Smithii - Firescreen
Description: This improved native selection holds foliage to the ground, making it an ideal hedge from 1.2 metres high. Brilliant copper-red new foliage matures to glossy green. Unhedged, forms a dense screen to 6 metres high x 2 metres wide approx. or can be clear-trunked and grown as a compact tree. Low-fruiting with small cream summer blossoms, followed by edible berries in Winter. For best results plant in full sun to medium shade in soil with organic matter and slow release fertiliser and water regularly. Drought, heat wave and cold tolerant to -2 degrees once established. Perfect for pots, pleaching and topiary. For an ideal screen or hedge, plant 1 metre appart and prune to height and width desired.
