Acmena smithii Var. Minor - Lilly Pilly Compact
Description: A smaller growing, bushier variety of the Lilly Pilly. Attractive, bronze-coloured new growth, with older leaves a shiny dark green. Fluffy, creamy-white blossoms are followed by masses of brightly coloured berries.
Ideal for hedges, screening and shelter.
Best grown in deep, loamy soils in a partly shaded to sunny position. Avoid wet, poorly drained soil.
Responds well to pruning and clipping. Lilly Pilly benefit from Summer watering, and an application of complete fertilser in Autumn and Spring.
Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
Planting Conditions: Full sun / part shade; prune regularly; bird attracting plant; tolerates light frost.
Watering Conditions: Keep moist but not wet.
